ASP Tactical Handcuff / ASP Expandable Baton / OC Pepper Spray Combo Course

The ASP Tactical Handcuff / ASP Expandable Baton / OC Pepper Spray Combo Course is a one day 8-hour combined training program specifically designed for law enforcement, security officers, and industry professionals focusing on practical techniques applicable in real-life street encounters.


ASP Tactical Handcuff

The ASP Tactical Handcuff portion of the course focuses on providing students with an understanding of the conditions in which handcuffs may be used, justification for use, and how to document these actions. 


Students will learn how to use the ASP Tri-Fold disposable restraint. This restraint is the most compact, easily carried, and rapidly applied single-use restraint on the market. They are the first choice of US military and police rapid response teams. They carry and store smaller, yet open larger than other disposable restraints on the market.


Course Topics Include

  • Technical characteristics of the restraint
  • Body mechanics
  • Portation (Carrying) techniques
  • Presentation (Drawing) techniques
  • Application techniques


Hands-on training incorporates drills simulating the wide variety of street encounters that require restraints. The tactics taught are easy to understand, practice, and readily maintain. The techniques taught have a high success rate, working 90% of the time on 90% of subjects. Students should be in good physical condition and capable of performing rigorous exercises.


Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive an ASP Tactical Handcuff Certification card in the mail.


ASP Expandable Baton

The ASP Expandable Baton portion of the course focuses on providing students with an understanding of the conditions in which the baton may be used, justification for use, and how to document these actions.


Course Topics Include

  • Portation (Carrying) techniques
  • Presentation (Drawing) techniques
  • Striking techniques
  • Mechanical function and maintenance


The training incorporates drills simulating the wide variety of street encounters which may require the use of an expandable baton. It provides efficient defensive impact weapon tactics that individuals can quickly learn, easily practice, and readily maintain. Students learn how to disengage or escalate as the situation may require. The techniques taught have a high success rate, working 90% of the time on 90% of subjects. Students should be in good physical condition and capable of performing rigorous exercises.


Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a lifetime ASP Baton Certification card through the mail.


OC Pepper Spray

The OC Pepper Spray portion of this course focuses on the deployment, handling, and documentation of OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) and CS (Tear Gas) blends.


Course Topics Include

  • Formulations, blends, and spray patterns
  • Selection, preparation, deployment, and storage
  • Use of force and legal ramifications


Inert OC Spray will be deployed on each student (provided & included in course cost). This allows practice of self defense spray usage techniques. Inert spray formulas contain only water and propellant, with none of the capsaicinoid chemicals that give duty strength pepper spray its incapacitating heat.

  • ASP Expandable Baton – we recommend ASP Friction Loc Baton (21-inch or 26-inch)*
  • Baton scabbard – we recommend ASP Rotating Side Break Scabbard*
  • Duty belt for the handcuffs/pouch and baton/scabbard
  • Comfortable clothing
  • Shoes with good lateral support
  • Notepad
  • Pen
  • Lunch, snacks, and drinks (refrigeration is unavailable. There is a market nearby for purchasing lunch)
