Course Structure

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course is held over two consecutive days, with each day focusing on different aspects of firearm education:


Day 1: Classroom Instruction in Springfield, Oregon

The first day consists of four hours of classroom-based learning, providing an in-depth overview of firearm safety and pistol operation. Students will gain foundational knowledge in a relaxed, interactive environment led by experienced NRA-certified instructors. Topics covered include:

  • Understanding the operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.

  • Choosing and maintaining the right pistol for your needs.


Day 2: Live-Fire Training in Calapooia, Oregon

  • Inspection and maintenance of pistols.

At the conclusion of Day 2, students complete a nationally standardized shooting qualification under the guidance of an NRA-certified instructor, ensuring they leave the course with verified competency.
